Uplifting Spirits

I know it has been a while, approximately a little over three months. A lot has happened since my last post. Apart from becoming overwhelmingly busy at school; I am pregnant. Since finding out, I have been going through some overwhelming emotions, which have and still catch me by surprise.

Taking care of your emotional health is a great part of being well and recognizing a change is also important. As another year begins again, it is now time to take inventory of your life and hold yourself accountable.

One of the main reasons I have failed to write or post a video for the simple (yet complicated) reason of feeling drained, sluggish, down, sick, and (as I hate to admit) unmotivated. I lost most of my urge and drive to do the things I once loved. So what did I do to keep going…

Aside from being a determined mom and wife (some of you guys know we don’t always have a choice to be down) I also stopped using my oils as much as I once did. I started using them for mainly pregnancy symptoms and not my emotional and mental health.

My home is known for always smelling nice and it’s because of the oils. I change the scent of the home depending on the mood or atmosphere of the home.  That all stopped when all I wanted to was sleep ALL DAY LONG and only woke up to eat, vomit, give direction, or clean one area of the house. l really began slacking off.

There are many oils for motivation such as Orange, Lemon, Frankincense, Lavender, Sage (if you are not pregnant), Grapefruit, Peppermint, Spearmint, Myrrh, Bergamot, and of course, the list goes on. There are also blends like Motivation or Motivate which also has a mix of essential oils known to elevate the mood (Make sure you read the ingredient list if you are pregnant, basil and sage are oils you shouldn’t use while pregnant and sometimes one of the oils in the blend).

Sensing there was a problem, I reached out to my support system. God has an awesome way of placing who and what you need right in front of you when you are ready to reach for it. She encouraged me to begin using my oils again and prayed for me.

My new daily routine to elevate my mood includes putting Orange and Lavender Essential Oils on my feet in the morning when I wake up.  I also wash my face with a drop of Peppermint Essential Oil. When I sleep I sleep with a mix of Lavender, Orange, and Vetiver; so I can wake up feeling well rested and get a good nights rest. It also doesn’t take me an hour to fall asleep any more!!!. I have also been diffusing Grapefruit, Lemon, Thieves, OnGaurd, and Lemongrass around the house in the diffusers at various times (not all at once).

I believe it has made a tremendous difference. I have had fewer occurrences of crying and I fell more energized. Although, I still must take a nap mid-day- being pregnant and all :-).

I hope this information helps motivate you this new year as we begin to take inventory of our lives and habits, begin to overcome obstacles, set new goals (you will achieve), and touch the lives of others. Essential oils can have an impact on your life- it only takes 1 to 2 drops- to start your path to healing.
