My Essential Oil Story

Adding essential oils to my daily life has been a life-changing experience for me. I am going to try and put into words what led me to begin my journey. Before I officially decided to try oils, I was a little skeptic. I believed/believe using herbs and having a healthy lifestyle was a key part of a healthy, fulfilling life, free from most illnesses. Hearing the stories about using oils felt more like “magic” to me. I believed they could help but didn’t think they were as life-changing as some would say.

I even experienced first had at work; a nurse using essential oils to help with her pain from plantar fasciitis. After seeing with my own eyes, I was still only half convinced. I figured the stories I had heard were being exacerbated. After I graduated and settled down I decided I would look into it and began my research.

Stroy after story and research after research article, the evidence showed Essential Oils worked but, the explanation of “how and why” could not be fully explained; they just worked. Most researcher articles showed a significant difference, positive correlation, or significant effect in their conclusion, in the use of adding essential oils to different regimens for healing. The findings also eluded to the need for more evidence to be done to actually find the exact mechanism of action of why they work and why some people reacted differently to the same scent.

One night at work someone came by our unit and the conversation about oils began. This sparked my interest even more and after learning my hospital sold oils in the pharmacy I went downstairs to pick up a few bottles and a diffuser. (My husband was overjoyed to see me come home with a bag of goodies after working all night.) That night in my excitement I also bought a few bottles from Amazon. This was the night my journey began. I started to use them… felt stuffy one day and used eucalyptus felt a little better but, I still didn’t really know what all the “fuss” was about. I thought maybe I was doing it “wrong” and continued to look and use the oils I had mainly respiratory reasons.

…Then I stumbled across a podcast by Samatha Lee Wright. It was here I learned not oils were created equal and a new research project began.

As I continued to listen to her talks, look at different research studies, and compare different companies; I decided to try a starter kit from Young Living. The day it arrived I was excited, ripped open the box like it was Christmas, quickly I opened every bottle, and smelled them. I went to work extra energized, knowing when I returned I was going to have so much to explore.

My first WOW, magical experience came after a workout. I had just started working out again… for those who understand where I am going… I was extremely sore after. It hurt to walk, stand, and even touch my legs after. I decided to rub my Panaway oil from my kit on my legs. NOW… my instructions told me I should probably dilute this oil in particular it when applying it to the skin; I didn’t. I dropped ONE DROP on my leg and rubbed it on.

It may have taken less than 5-10 minutes but I felt my leg tingle, almost like I placed Icy-Hot on my leg but different. I then also realized why people dilute it; IT FELT LIKE A RUSH. (I still apply it directly sometimes but mostly dilute it in my DIY muscle relaxant). But this was my “Magic Moment“. I had many more magic moments with other oils, but it was this moment after receiving my kit where I realized there was something about the oils that everyone should know about.

I now faithfully use essential oils every day and if you come into my home you are subjecting yourself to aromatherapy. I use essential helps set the mood for parties and family gatherings, added essential oils to my glass pitcher of water, and love hearing people say,” OMG this water is good and so refreshing. What kind of water is this?” When I tell them it’s regular water with added essential oils, they are surprised.

My beginning and continued experience with essential oils from Young Living have been extraordinary and have led me to want to share with every. The spiritual connection I get from using the oils is another experience I wasn’t expecting. In using them and with my continual research, I am reminded of Philipines 4:19 where it says, “But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”

Although I do believe medicine has its place; it brings tears to my eyes knowing a lot (if not all) preventable illness, aches, anxiety, sadness, and other ailments have been supplied here on earth all this time. All our needs have been supplied to us waiting for us to decide to use them.

I am overjoyed to know I can literally find an “oil for that” with whatever I am going through. Whether it is anger, uncertainty, excitement, anxiety, sadness, joy, content, mental clarity, fatigue, exercise, pain, healing… I have found an oil to help me with every step of the way mentally, spiritually, physically, developmentally, and even socially.

I encourage and CHALLENGE you to feel your MAGIC moment with your oils and discover new things.
