Green Sea Moss: Vibrant Superfood from the Sea

Are you looking for a natural daily vitamin? Do you use sea moss? My family and I have used sea moss for about two years now and as a mom I love it. Our family usually switches between purple a gold but, have recently discovered the benefits of Green Sea Moss. Green Sea Moss, a lesser-known cousin of the popular red sea moss, is emerging as a superfood with a host of health benefits. As a nurse, herbalist, and wellness entrepreneur, I’ve been fascinated by the unique properties of Green Sea Moss and its contribution to holistic health.

Nutrient-Rich Powerhouse: Green Sea Moss is a nutritional marvel. It is been because it grows in the shallow regions of the ocean and is packed with chlorophyl. Packed with vitamins and minerals, it contains iodine, potassium, calcium, and sulfur, along with vitamins A, E, C, and a host of B vitamins. This makes it a comprehensive supplement for overall health and vitality. It contains 92 vitamins and minerals your body needs daily. Sea Moss can be added to almost everything. I typically add a tablespoon of sea moss gel to spaghetti sauce, oatmeal, smoothies, homemade ice cream, homemade nut milks, cookies, and more. Sea moss also made its own head line on Forbes Health too.

Thyroid Health Support: Iodine is needed to support a healthy thyroid. The thyroid is an important organ in the body because it aids in controlling your metabolism and energy levels. The average person does not get enough iodine from their traditional diet. According to the NIH, an adult person needs about 150mcg of iodine per day. There is iodine in sea moss. The high iodine content in Green Sea Moss is crucial for thyroid health. The thyroid uses iodine to produce hormones that regulate metabolism, energy levels, and emotional well-being. Incorporating Green Sea Moss into your diet can help in maintaining a balanced thyroid function. *If you have been told you have a hyperthyroid function, you should watch the amount of sea moss you use and consult a naturopathic doctor or nutritionist.

Immune System Boost: What we eat effects our bodies immune system for better or even worse. Renowned for its immune-boosting properties, Green Sea Moss is a natural ally in fighting off infections and illnesses. Research has also shown the benefits sea moss can have on your health. Sea moss is nutrient dense and full of antioxidants which aid in strengthening the body’s immune response. Green sea moss has chlorophyll which gives this sea moss the added benefit of aiding with detoxing the body. is what gives plants their green color and is also full of antioxidants.

Digestive Health: Health begins with the gut. When you have a health system inside, it is reflected outside. Green Sea Moss is beneficial for digestive health due to its high fiber content. Because it also have live natural bacteria; it acts as a prebiotic. Combined with a good source of fiber and bacteria, sea moss promotes keeping a healthy gut flora, and can aid in resolving common digestive issues like bloating and constipation.

Skin Health Enhancer: You can both consume sea moss and use it in face masks, hair shampoos, and conditioners for added benefits. Like most plants, sea moss has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties help in treating skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis. Sea moss also has vitamins like vitamin K and A it is great at rehydrating the skin and protecting it from harmful elements. Additionally, its high sulfur content is great for combating acne and promoting a healthy complexion.

Weight Management and Diet Changes: For those focusing on weight management or to change their diet, Green Sea Moss is a valuable supplement. As you work to incorporate healthier foods into the diet. Sea Moss can offer support to ensure you aren’t deficient in any nutrients. It’s low in calories yet high in nutrients, helping to promote a feeling of fullness and reduce cravings. Because it has 92 of the vitamins and minerals your body needs daily, you are less likely to have bad cravings. A person usually has cravings because there body is looking for a specific nutrient.

How to Incorporate Green Sea Moss: I use sea moss throughout the week in various food items for my family. Green Sea Moss can be consumed in various forms – as a gel, in powdered form, or as capsules. It can be easily added to smoothies, soups, and even desserts for a nutritional boost without overpowering or sacrificing flavor. I usually add a tablespoon or two in a dish for each person going to consume it. I have a family of five so depending on the size of the pot or smoothie I will add 5-7 tablespoons to my dish. Ex. morning oatmeal 4- 5 tablespoons (not everyone in my home gets up early) evening soup 5-7 tablespoons. I even will put a teaspoon to tablespoon into my dog’s food dish, once a day.

In conclusion, Green Sea Moss is a vibrant, nutrient-rich superfood offering a plethora of health benefits. From supporting thyroid function to boosting the immune system and enhancing skin health, it’s a versatile addition to any health-conscious individual’s diet. In my family we strive to eat all the colors of the rainbow throughout the day. This is my way of making sure my family is getting a wide range of nutrients to support the body. Sea moss helps me make sure my picky toddlers are getting all their nutrients even if they are eating cookies and brownies at home. I tend to rotate through the colors like I do most herbs in my home.
